Biography

Omri Senderowicz is an Israel Institute Visiting Assistant Professor in the KU Jewish Studies Program. He earned his BA in History and Humanities from Tel Aviv University and his PhD in Anthropology and History from the University of Michigan, where he wrote his dissertation on the privatization of the Israeli kibbutz. Dr. Senderowicz’s research focuses on the transition from socialism to neoliberalism at the end of the 20th century, as seen through the lens of the anthropology of ethics. He ethnographic research focuses on the local politics of ethnicity in a privatized kibbutz and explores the role of neoliberal ethics in the Mizrahi struggle for equality and inclusion.
